Meet your Snazzy Getaway host: Althea Allick. Althea is a true entrepreneur, growing and operating a few businesses since 2001. She has a flair for interior decorating that you will see when you arrive at one of our rental properties. Althea has a focus on outstanding customer service, and is a bit of a perfectionist; both good qualities for operating a business like Snazzy Getaway. Should you find anything that needs attention during your Snazzy Getaway stay, Althea will do her best to take care of it. Your satisfaction is her priority.
Althea immigrated to Canada with her family from Guyana in 1995. The family settled in the Mississauga area, a suburb of Greater Toronto. She began working doing office work and clerical duties. Although the work was ok, she felt that there were other things that she’d rather be doing. In 2001 she started on a rewarding entrepreneurial path, and hasn’t looked back.
In 2001 Althea took the last few dollars in her bank account, bought some cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner and became self employed doing house cleaning. Over the years, her clientele grew and she began hiring staff to accommodate the demand. The business that started in Mississauga,and Brampton then grew and spread out into the Greater Toronto area and beyond. That business is now known as Sparkle Kleen Inc.
In 2011, Althea opened another business called Poize House of Beauty in St. Catherines. The business specialized in women’s fashion; clothing, shoes, fashion accessories and beauty products were on her shelves. The business was successful but proved to be stressful and time consuming for Althea, especially while still running the Sparkle Kleen Business. In 2014 Althea met someone in Sault Ste. Marie and began a relationship. She decided to close Poize House of Beauty in late 2014 and moved to Sault Ste. Marie fully by 2016. Despite the move, she kept the Sparkle Kleen business operating in Southern Ontario and opened a branch office in Sault Ste. Marie. Sparkle Kleen now provides residential and commercial janitorial services based out of offices in Brampton, Brantford, and Sault Ste. Marie. In 2021, during the pandemic, Althea purchased a local property in Sault Ste. Marie to begin the Snazzy Getaway vacation rental business. That property is our Trunk Rd. location. The rental business goes hand in hand with the existing Sparkle Kleen service. In 2022, Althea opened the second location, on Pim St. In 2023, a third property was purchased and renovated, at Heyden Lake.
Althea is also very active in the local business community.
